Haute & Modesty (DCFW) FT Dian Pelangi

Hey Beautiful Followers,

It has been a while since I posted, I have been dealing with a lot of personal matters but I'm back and ready to report and guide you through great fashion ideas and styles before 2014 is up.

I had the pleasure of working with the Haute and Modesty team for the DCFW show this past September. The Haute and Modesty show presents designers who's core focus is fabulous, modest creations As an aspiring stylist this was a huge deal in preparing and also elevating my career on to a more professional level. I am very grateful for Areej Fashions for having me as one of the core stylist for the Haute and Modesty show.

The stylist team featured Hakeemah Cummings of CMB, Sanniyah Bilal of Curio-styling and myself Fahima Abdul of Modern Majesty. All of the stylist have blogs featuring their own experiences and previous styling work, It will be listed below.

Hakeemah, Sanniyah and myself corresponded over 2 months through emails on how we wanted the makeup, the choice of jewelry and the common hairstyles that would only compliment the designers looks. We all contributed ideas, pictures and explanations. We then communicated with the designers building a relationship with their pieces would only allow us to bring the best out of their visions. Understanding the importance of working in a team and making it a must to hear and implement everyone's ideas in way that would not be overwhelming on the runway. All of us agreed on having simple curls, braids and nude lips as well as bright eyes, allowing them to not take away from the designer pieces. This has to be my favorite part of the entire process. I felt like I gained so much from the two brilliant stylist.

The day of the Haute & Modesty show was exciting, absolutely busy and incredible. From wrapping turbans, putting on shoes, fittings and lining up the models we were completely transported to world that fitted us as human beings, this is where we wanted to be, this is who we were born to be and it felt amazing in the chaotic madness to discover ourselves. It felt amazing to be thanked by designers for bringing their vision into life. The Haute & Modesty show was an amazing experience, I pray this is only the beginning for all of us who embarked on this journey with me.

We had the pleasure in working back stage with the remarkable Dian Pelangi and witnessing her fashion forward ideas, Dian Pelangi is a 22 year old high fashion Indonesian designer who gave us the pleasure of being her in presence. Dian Pelangi is undeniably the poster girl for modest fashion across the board, she began her career at the age of 18 and has successfully been received as a pioneer fashion designer who reinvents shapeless looks into modest wear with great, unique fashion forward ideas.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Dian Pelangi and getting to know her on a personal level and it only confirmed that her success was because as well as talent she was sweet, down to earth and absolutely adorable. The Haute & Modesty team went for dinner with the designers allowing us to get familiar with each other, which really allowed us to work well on the day of the show.

Dian Pelangi opened and closed the show for Haute & Modesty during DCFW, her showcase featured intricate designs with a rich color palette of gold, red and teal. Here are some her GORGEOUS looks...
